The largest cruise ship to ever visit Australia docked in Fremantle yesterday.

The 166,000 ton Ovation of the Seas is 4 times the size of Titanic, and the fourth largest passenger ship ever built.

It wasn’t that long ago that the Australian’s only had a few choices for local voyages. This summer season, there are a record number of ships visiting Australian ports.

Having a very large passenger ship like Ovation of the Seas based in Australia shows the health of the local cruise market. Each voyage this ship takes over 5,000 passengers and well over 1,000 crew - so it’s comparable to having a regional town arrive into Fremantle.

Ovation of the Seas offers a host of innovative amenities, never before seen in Australia. These include a wave simulator, sky diving experience and an observation-pod that offers a 360 degree panorama from above the ship.

This ship brings a host of the experiences you can have at land based resorts and puts them together in one place. It means passengers are spoilt for choice - they can wake up late, enjoy a long breakfast, take in the views on the observation-pod, and then go sky diving - all without leaving the ship!

Ovation of the Seas overnights in Fremantle, and sails for her Australian home port of Sydney on Wednesday.
